Top to Bottom
Chester Yellow Jackets – Coach Lee has the Yellow Jackets poised to once again be at the top of the BDC. He has too many players returning from last season’s undefeated conference run to not be considered top of the heap. This includes first team All BDC selection Joel Clendenin at running back and Justin Marks at guard. Other first team selections included the kicker Austin Redeker and DB Brad Asselmeier.
Carmi-White County Bulldogs – Chase Sailer (6-1 220 lb Senior QB/DE) is back and healthy and Coach Simon is well-stocked for the season with returning first team all-conference guard Brandon Pollard (5-7 190 lb Senior OL/NG). Tyson Russell (5-9 210 lb Junior RB) is looking to make waves.
Johnston City Indians – The Indians look to reload after losing games to Carmi-White Co, Chester, and Du Quoin. None of those teams are particularly easy to face. The tribe will be one of the most competitive teams in the conference this year with Jake Davison and Bremdan Mings. They need to replace all-conference MVP Tyler Johnson.
Eldorado Eagles – The Eagles are loaded with seniors and talented underclass. This is Eldorado’s year to strike. Coach Hampton will be motivated to take it all. Top players from last season includes tackle Austin Miller, Dylan Roberts, Tristen Morse, Derek Mitchell and Tyler Deaton.
Fairfield Mules – Last season the Mules were just right off being a dominate player in the BDC. Young and aggressive will hope to content for a top spot.
Vienna-Goreville Eagles – After making the playoffs last season the Eagles are to continue the trend. Coach Mike Rude continues to push the new program further.
Sesser-Valier-Waltonville-Woodlawn Red Devils – A slow start last season from a tough early schedule costs the Red Devils but they recovered to get to be one of the top teams in the conference. The Devils will be a tall task this year for anyone matching against them.
Hamilton County Foxes – The last two seasons have only brought one win for the Foxes. The Foxes try to climb out of that hole they found themselves in last year. Shoring up the defensive side of the ball paired with their ability to move the ball will yield big improvements.
Christopher Zeigler-Royalton Bearcats – Consistency is key for the Bearcats. They have flashes but struggle keeping it together. They very well might sneak a win in on a few times who don’t expect it.
Elverado-Trico Falcons – It is hard to tell what the E-T Coop has from year to year. If the Falcons didn’t have to forfeit their first game of the season to CZR last year they might have ended with two wins. New coaches bring enthusiasm back to Elkville but the will those players stay healthy and on the field?
